Gantry And XY Tables

Precise work requires the right equipment and when it comes to gantry and xy tables there are a lot to choose from.

The X, Y standard laser table range from a 15"x 15" to 51" x 100" in size. Many companies who produce these tables offer a wide range in configuration so that the customer gets the right table for the application. Depending on what you will be using the table for, you need to consider size, dependability as well as affordability. Depending on the type of construction needed the simplest form of 2 linear degrees of freedom of a positioning system where the base of the top axis is screwed to the carriage of the lower axis is the best.

The standard X, Y table is usually designed and built from heavy duty steels including stainless and are meant to last for many years with nominal maintenance. The X, Y table is no small expense so purchasing a long lasting one is important. Most table working tops are built for toughness in design for rigidity and stressed relieved for minimal environmental effect. Most companies attempt to create the precision ground for most tables to be better than .001".

Precision rails and bearing blocks are used to give the customer accurate and repeatable operation. Most basic tables are fairly accurate however higher accuracy tables can be ordered from most companies. Vibration control within the tables make for minimal vibration, since when working on a delicate project vibration can be a concern, most companies offer this, however the there may be a cost difference in the tables that offer a higher vibration control. The other important thing to consider is the job you will need the equipment for; there may be no need for vibration concerns. The best thing to do in order to determine which table is right for your company is to speak with your vendor.

There are also different gantry designs to address specific applications. According to most companies standard models use ball screw drives for the gantries and high speed raster scan models use a precision belt drive. Clients can order various options for the bases for any of the models of the gantry tables. There are many amenities that can be included with metal cabinet doors and casters being two of the most popular. Gantry configuration is important because a gantry driven by linear motors and designed for high natural frequency can provide a company with the right equipment that combines high precision, high speed and low settling time thus making the best use saving time and money.

Games: Which are the Easiest to Play

Here is a guide to the best online games. Find yourself winning, or at least not necessary losing in the long run. The best casino games are games that have a low house edge or games where by practicing your skill you can have an advantage over the casino. Those with the lowest house edge are blackjack and video poker. By improving the skill with which you play poker and blackjack, you gain an advantage over the other player or over the casino.

House Edge:
First, here is an explanation about the term house edge. The house edge is the way the casinos create an artificial advantage over the player to ensure their profits. The advantage is created by not paying the true odds. The house edge is the gap between the true odds and the odds the casino actually pays out for a winning.

Here is an example for clarification. The true odds in an American roulette game are 37:1. However, if you place a one dollar bet, you would be paid 35 dollars instead of 37 dollars, which are the true odds. The two dollars gap between the true odds and the actual payout is the casino house edge. You can calculate American roulette house edge by dividing 2 dollars by 38. The result is 5.26 percent.

Poker:
This is an exceptional casino game. It is the only casino game where you play against the other players instead of competing against the casino. There is not a house edge in poker. Instead, most casinos ensure their profits by collecting a rake, which is a certain percentage of the pot used to cover expenses. Other casinos charge each player by the hour.

Poker is the best casino game to play if you are a skilled player. A skilled player with experience, excellent knowledge in certain game rules, smart strategy and an ability to read facial expressions would have an advantage over the less skilled poker players, especially those who rely on their good fortune.

Blackjack:
This is the only casino game where the advantage can be shifted from the player to the dealer. When you are playing blackjack and using an optimal strategy, the house edge can be lower than 0.5 percent. You can increase your odds of winning and lower the house edge by learning the strategy based on the mathematics of the game.

Another way to lower the casino advantage in blackjack is by card counting. A skilled card counter can adjust his bets and his strategy according to the proportion between high cards and low cards. Mastering card counting requires skill and practice. In addition, since casinos are not especially welcoming card counters to their blackjack tables, you should also practice your hiding skills.

Video Poker:
The resemblance between video poker and slot machine sometimes causes confusion. Nevertheless, contrasting to slot machine, video poker is a game of skill. Playing video poker using an optimal strategy can lower its house edge to less than half percent. As opposed to slot machines, in video poker machine the pay table on the front of the machine enables you to determine the expected return of the game.

For example:
1) In a 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker machine, the expected return percentage can be as high as 99.5 percent.
2) In a 8/5 Jacks or Better machine the return percentage can be 97.3 percent and 95 percent in a 6/5 Jacks or Better video poker machine.
3) In a full paying Deuces Wild machine, the expected return percentage can be 100.17 percent.

Fuel-Efficient Jetta TDI Saves Money at the Pump

In a time when anything under $2.20 gallon for gas is a bargain, those shopping for a new car are definitely comparing notes.

In fact, with gas prices at an all-time high and no sign of them taking a turn for the better anytime soon, more and more buyers are considering alternative fueled cars, like hybrids and diesel-powered automobiles.

This also is a good time for auto manufacturers to tout their fuel-efficient wares. And with the new 2005 Jetta TDI, Volkswagen is no exception.

Volkswagen's newest model consists of an electronically advanced, high-tech TDI diesel engine - one that offers greater gas mileage with an even better overall performance.

While most drivers can expect to get anywhere from 15 to 25 miles to the gallon, the new Jetta TDI boasts an average of 35.5 miles per gallon in the city and 41.5 on the open road. This is enough to get you from Detroit to Washington, D.C. - more than 600 miles one way - without ever having to stop at a gas station.

Not a bad deal, the company says, for those looking to save a few dollars at the pump.

As with most new cars, the Jetta TDI is available in either the standard five-speed manual transmission or the optional six-speed automatic.

In addition, the car uses a brand new technology that allows the engine to run much more quietly, with more power and efficiency than its late 1970s and early 1980s counterparts.

As with most new cars, this newest Volkswagen is brimming with standard safety features like front, front-side, and side curtain air bags; ABS; crash active head restraints; and three-point seat belts for all passengers.

Specifically, the new Jetta TDI includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-disc, in-dash CD changer, heated front seats, cruise control and remote central locking.

Fuel Your Savings With A New Air Filter

In 1985, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) accounted for only 2 percent of new vehicle sales. But by 2001, one in four new vehicles purchased was an SUV, according to The SUV Info Link Web site. With the prevalence of these large, gas-guzzling vehicles on the road today, more consumers are looking for ways to save money at the pump.

One quick and low-cost way for drivers to help improve their gas mileage by as much as 10 percent, based on U.S. Department of Energy calculations, is to simply change their vehicle's dirty air filter.

"To help protect your engine and keep it running at its best, it is important to properly service your vehicle's air filter," advised Susan Groom, leader of product engineering at FRAM. "Over time, the air filter becomes clogged with dirt and debris. This can restrict airflow to the engine, resulting in decreased performance and lower fuel efficiency."

SUVs and trucks are generally driven harder than passenger cars, and strenuous tasks such as driving in dirty or dusty road conditions, idling in stop-and-go traffic, and towing heavy loads can have an adverse impact on their engines. For this reason, AAA recommends checking your vehicle's air filter at least twice a year, and more often in dusty conditions.

Motorists can provide their SUV or truck with the ultimate engine protection by installing a premium-brand air filter developed specifically for their vehicle, such as the FRAM® Tough Guard® Premium Air Filter. Created to meet the tough driving conditions trucks and SUVs often encounter, this advanced filter boasts performance features such as a premium pre-oiled media that is designed for increased dirt-holding capacity. The oil helps attract and capture smaller dirt and dust particles that traditional dry paper filters can miss. Additionally, the filter's heavy-duty construction offers increased durability and greater integrity, and a "pleat lock" system on Flex Panel models allows consistent airflow and less restriction to help improve overall engine performance.

"A properly maintained air filter will not only enhance SUV and truck performance, but also contribute to savings at the pump," Groom noted.

Fuel Injectors: Time To Replace?

When it comes to squeezing out maximum fuel efficiency as well as power from your engine, properly working fuel injectors are an essential component to helping your vehicle run flawlessly. Eventually, however, like any part they do wear out. Fortunately, the selection of stock fuel injectors available on the market is wide; with a little research you can find replacement fuel injectors that are right for your car and at a price that is right for your wallet.

Before you go to the expense of replacing your current fuel injectors, you should first check your fuel filter to see if it is the culprit. If clogged, replace the fuel filter and keep changing it every 25,000 miles. Gas prices are at all time record high levels, but you should only use name brand gasolines containing fuel injection cleaner additives to ensure continued good performance.

If after performing the above maintenance your vehicle still isn’t running properly, one or more of your injectors may no longer be working. If you have determined that this is the case, you will need to replace the malfunctioning injector[s]. If you are seeking better performance, then an after market fuel injector such as an Accel is an excellent choice. If you elect to go the performance route, you must replace all of your fuel injectors at the same time.

One of the leading suppliers of stock fuel injectors is Bosch. In 1967, the German manufacturer introduced the first fuel injection system with a high-pressure electric fuel pump. Bosch is a leader in innovative fuel injection technology and design, as well as in superior, original equipment quality. Yes, many vehicles coming off of automobile assembly lines already come equipped with Bosch fuel injectors: they are simply that good.

Alternatively, Ford fuel injectors, Nissan fuel injectors, and those made by and for other automobile manufacturers are all quite good. They have to be, otherwise their cars would not be able to run!

Prices for fuel injectors are all over the place. It is a good idea to shop and compare before making your purchase. Reputable online suppliers can often give you the best prices; some will even include free shipping making shopping on the internet your best bet.

Forklift - security

Operating a forklift is a hard and specialized job that requires specific expert skills, training and experience. Not every person can operate a forklift. The law allows only those workers who received proper training and certification by their organization or company to operate a forklift. If you don’t hold a certification, you will need to go through the specialized training. This training will include a large section that deals with security. Incorrect operation of the forklift may result in a lot of serious damage to the operator, people around and the property. This is the main reason why security and damage prevention is an important topic. Personnel should be able to operate the forklift in a secure manner.

One of the rules that deal with the forklift safety is to keep your feet and hands away from the forklift parts that move and can cause damage. For example, you should never put your feet right in front or behind the wheels. You should also keep your hands away from the chain. Another advice is to stay under the overhead safety guard which is located above your head. This part was specifically installed to prevent any objects from being accidentally dropped from the top. When you are getting in or out of the forklift, make sure to look above and check that there is no danger.

The next suggestion is to make sure that you keep your hands and feed inside the forklift operator's cabin. This will make sure that you don’t hurt yourself if you drive the forklift close to some object. Also make sure that you drive the forklift very carefully, especially if there are people around. Due to the size and weight of the forklift you can cause a lot of damage in case of an accident. Be especially careful when you drive backwards and when you park the forklift.

Forklift – how does it work?

Forklift – or a lift truck as it is sometimes called – is a machine that is capable of lifting heavy objects and transporting them to different locations. There are several important characteristics that each forklift possesses. First of all, most of the forklift trucks (if not all) will use the rear wheel steering. That means the forklift uses rear wheels to make a turn. This gives the forklift operator more vehicle control (especially important when lifting something with the forks). You should be able to become comfortable with rear wheel steering during your forklift training. The operator of the forklift will be able to make turns in a very tight circle.

Another important characteristic is the fact that a forklift will usually weigh more than a regular car. Depending on a type of forklift it can even be heavier that a truck. This heavy weight is necessary to allow the forklift to lift heavy objects while providing the necessary stability and control. Also the weight is necessary to provide stability when the lifted objects are moved from one place to another. Another reason for the extra weight is the fact that forklift trucks often have a short width, many times fewer than 4 – 5 feet. The weight of the forklift will determine the maximum weight of the load it can lift.

Another thing to mention about forklift trucks is that they are very powerful? You should be very careful when you are driving the forklift or lifting some object. There are many different forklift types produced by many manufacturers like Toyota, Mitsubishi and Clark. Each of these forklift trucks will have its own specific benefits. For example, many Toyota forklift trucks offer the Active Control Rear Stabilizer for extra side stability and System of Active Stability for electronically monitoring of forklift functioning and operations. Other electronic equipment is usually installed on different forklift models.

Ford v. Chevy: The Battle Rages On

As much as auto critics love to wring their hands over GM’s and Ford’s misfortunes the two automakers are locked in a perpetual battle for the coveted big pickup truck category. The Chevrolet Silverado and Ford F Series continue to duke it out for the number one spot. There is more at stake here than meets the eye…and just what would that be?

For 28 years running the top selling vehicle in the US has not been a car, rather a pick up truck. That’s right, America’s love of pick ups extends to the point where the Ford F Series traditionally outsells the bestselling car by a factor of nearly 2 to 1 [the Toyota Camry is the best selling car, FYI]. Indeed, the second best selling truck for most of that time has been the Chevy Silverado, nemesis of the Ford.

If you are a GM fan, your immediate thought is to cry “foul” over the whole matter. In reality, Chevrolet’s parent company -- General Motors -- sells more full size pick up trucks than Ford year in and year out. However “the general” markets its truck under two different nameplates: Chevrolet and GMC. So, what appears to be a long running streak for Ford is just not that. At least according to GM fans.

Beyond the pick up truck sales, the matter of who is number one is a source of pride for the big automakers as they have been beaten and bruised over the years by increased competition. Asian automakers continue to take away sales, as even Toyota and Nissan are now building full sized pick up trucks. Dodge, too, has grown in size and influence ever since its redone Rams hit the market in the early 1990s. So, the last area of dominance for Ford and GM is also being chipped away and no one wants to be the first to admit defeat.

If you want to influence the battle, you have only one month to make a difference. Both manufacturers are certain to have amazing end of the year clearances, so shop smartly and you will come out as a winner no matter whose product you choose.

Ford Focus Is 'Comfortable And Versatile'

The UK's best selling car at the moment; the Ford Focus, is a comfortable and versatile mode of transport, according to the manufacturers, who claim the latest model is longer and wider than before.

With a variety of body shapes available in several trim levels, the Ford Focus costs from £11,395 on-the-road for the three-door 1.4 Studio model, to £19,200 for the 1.6 16-valve TDCi Titanium estate with Durashift CVT transmission.

The most basic Studio model standard equipment including electrically operated front windows and central locking, while its low car insurance rating in group 4E will have been aided by the array of safety features in and around the vehicle.

These include features such as Ford's Intelligent Protection System, including driver and front passenger airbags, side airbags and front seatbelt pyrotechnic pre-tensioners, while standard anti-lock braking with electronic brake force distribution will help to avoid accidents happening in the first place due to drivers locking up.

Additionally, the ISOFIX seat mounts allow drivers with young families to secure child seats much more easily in the back of the car.

Indeed, Ford manufacturers describe the car as the safest in its class, citing its five star Euro NCAP rating – factors that are crucial in deciding a particular vehicle's motor insurance grouping.

Drivers looking for Ford car insurance may also find the standard security features of interest, such as immobilsers and central locking, which can be operated remotely in the LX models and above.

The Ghia model, which includes various luxury features, is fitted with a Thatcham category one volume sensing alarm, to ward off burglars and keep car insurance claims to an absolute minimum.

Except for the range of high-performance Ford ST models, the maximum motor insurance grouping for any car in the Ford Focus range is 10E, which is generally for the Ghia and Titanium range models.

Ford Extended Warranty - Know The Facts

An extended warranty is something extra—something you add-on when you purchase a vehicle. It is different from a regular warranty. Often, a regular warranty will be thrown-in when you buy a vehicle, and it will cover some repair work on certain parts. Usually, such warranties are for a specific amount of time or vehicle use, such as 3 years or 25,000 miles.

An extended warranty, though, covers your vehicle for a longer period of time, for example, 5 years or 50,000 miles. You can usually buy an extended warranty when you buy a vehicle. An extended warranty will be added on to your purchase and worked in to your monthly payment. For as little as it will cost, you will receive peace-of-mind, knowing that your vehicle is covered around the time when you might expect something to go wrong.

You can buy an extended warranty from the dealer, through a broker, or even from the manufacturer. Take the Ford extended warranty, for example. They offer a number of extended warranties for their vehicles. If you drive a Ford Focus, you are offered these Ford extended warranty options: pre-paid maintenance plan, powertraincare extended service plan (covers 29 components), basecare extended service plan (covers 84 components), extracare extended service plan (covers 113 components), and the premiumcare extended service plan (covers over 500 components).

There are many options for a Ford extended warranty. You need to look at your vehicle, study the plans, and decide how much comfort and peace-of-mind you want or need. For example, if you trust Ford, you might select the pre-paid maintenance plan. This plan will cover basic maintenance, and make sure that your car is kept optimal. But if you want more protection, you might choose the powertrain plan, or any of the other plans that offer more-and-more protection.

A Ford extended warranty offers you the peace-of-mind directly from the manufacturer and helps you feel secure driving your vehicle.

Flush Out Engine Failure

Want to avoid getting stranded by an overheated engine? Take a few minutes to perform a few quick cooling system maintenance activities.

Cooling system failure is a leading cause of engine-related breakdowns; however, a simple cooling system flush and fill or top-off can drastically minimize your risk. The task is especially important to perform before the cold weather months hit.

A flush and fill is crucial for your engine because it removes the dirt, dust and sediment that may damage the water pump and clog the engine water jacket and radiator. It takes just minutes to drain, flush and refill the cooling system, and the task can avoid unnecessary headaches in the long run.

"Proper preparation for cold weather ensures that you do not end up in a dangerous situation down the road," said Richard Courtney, director of Prestone Products Research & Development and Technical Services.

Prestone manufactures a formula of antifreeze/coolant that can be used in all makes and models of cars and light trucks and mixes with any color antifreeze/coolant. The universal formula, Prestone Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant, eliminates confusion by taking the guesswork out of choosing the right product for your vehicle's cooling system.

For drivers who have recently filled their antifreeze reservoirs, the only necessary task to prep your cooling system for cold weather may be a quick top-off. Motorists looking for the easiest top-off method can benefit from the Prestone 50/50 Pre-diluted Extended Life Antifreeze/ Coolant, which can be poured directly into the cooling system for protection in between your regularly scheduled flush and fills.

The Prestone team also recommends that all drivers consult their vehicle owner's manual and follow the manufacturer's recommendations on the proper maintenance procedures and changeover intervals for their vehicle.

"Keeping your cooling system in top condition is vital for both your own personal safety and for the health of your engine," Courtney said. "New antifreeze/coolant will add fresh life to your engine and helps keep you on the road."

Flood Damage Cars Are Still Around

While the news reports concerning hurricanes, flood damages and the travesty that was put upon the unfortunate victims have slowed down, the dangers and hazards are still present.

With reports varying upwards of 600,000 vehicles damaged by floodwaters, these cars and trucks will most certainly, and already have, surfaced across the country, waiting on their next victim.

It’s easy to let your guard down with out much media publicity, but used car buyers should be aware that these vehicles are still out in the market, perhaps cross country in states that are not affected by the floods.

A couple of common issues that have surfaced, that you should be aware of, is sellers attempting to hide the origin of where these cars came from. By registering the vehicle in different states, it creates a paper trail that can be difficult to trace unless you spend the time for researching.

Another common issue is sellers changing license plate frames or adding an emblem from another state. This of course is designed to hide or deceive the potential buyer of what state the car came from.

The question remains, what steps should a consumer take to minimize their risk of purchasing one of these damaged vehicles? The below tips, ideas and suggestions will at least minimize your risk of purchasing a car or truck that has been involved with floodwaters.

Check the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s web site at www.nicb.org, they have compiled a list of vehicles that have that have been affected by hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. While this list may not include every single vehicle, it’s a good place to start with.

Also run an online history report, once again, this database may not be all-inclusive, but it’s another step in the process of elimination.

Knowledge Is King, and it can’t have more meaning than in your quest for a quality used automobile. Following the below inspection tips will offer some added protection as well, and perhaps is the most effective means of determining in the vehicle was involved in floods.

·Inspect for grass and debris around the radiator, underneath around the frame, front and rear suspension components, etc.

·Check for standing waterlines in the engine compartment, rear firewall area, and even inside door pockets of the door panels and interior trim areas.

·Mildew smell inside due to wet carpeting and padding indicate the possibility water intrusions.

·Inspect connectors and wiring for signs of corrosion, physically disconnect a few connectors and inspect the terminals. Corrosion evidence will be a green or white chalk type substance or rust color.

·Look for rusted bolts and metal components, particularly underneath seats where water has been standing.

·Inspect for windows fogging up on the inside after the vehicle has sat overnight, this is an indication that there may be water underneath the carpet and or carpet padding.

·Inspect trunk area for waterlines, corroded connectors and wiring.

With a keen eye and a little knowledge you can minimize the risk of spending thousands of dollars on a vehicle that has potential long-term effects by water damage.

Flex Fuel Vehicles: More Choices

Owning a flex fuel vehicle gives motorists options beyond high gas prices at the pump. Depending on the fuel’s availability and local taxes, you could save as much as one third at the pump by fueling up your car with E85, the ethanol/gasoline blend popular with flex fuel vehicles. As additional service stations add flex fuel to their available fuel options, more drivers will consider this alternate fuel source to save money and to help the environment. However, before you make the switch, your vehicle must be designed to run on E85 in the first place. Fortunately, select auto manufacturers are jumping in by offering vehicles that can operate with either E85 or straight gasoline. Let’s take a look at the current offerings available to American consumers.

Surprisingly, not many of the vehicles from Japanese automakers have flex fuel capabilities. Toyota and Honda are concentrating on hybrid technology while also exploring hydrogen power. The American automakers have taken the lead in this all important endeavor and the following vehicles from General Motors, Ford, and DaimlerChrysler all have FFV models available for consumers:

General Motors:

Chevrolet Silverado

Chevrolet Avalanche

GMC Sierra

Chevrolet Suburban

GMC Yukon

Chevrolet Tahoe

Chevrolet Impala

Chevrolet Malibu

Ford Motor Company:

Lincoln Town Car

Ford F-Series

Mercury Gran Marquis

Ford Crown Victoria

Ford Taurus

DaimlerChrysler:

Dodge Durango

Dodge Ram

Dodge Caravan

Chrysler Town & Country

Chrysler Sebring

Dodge Stratus

In addition, several foreign manufacturers also offer E85 technology including: Mercedes and Nissan on current models, while Isuzu and Mazda on past models. Just so you know, not all versions of each model listed have flex fuel capability; check with the dealer to make certain that your model is indeed flex fuel capable.

Yes, the flex fuel movement is growing and as new stations come on line and more vehicles become available, look for consumers to select flex fuel vehicles in greater numbers. Add in two big side benefits of reduced emissions and less dependency on foreign oil, and flex fuel vehicles make a heck of a lot of sense. Will you be going the flex fuel vehicle route?

Flex Fuel Vehicle And Ethanol

Flexible fuel vehicles are just like an average car in the sense that they use a single gas tank. But it can run on a mixture of gasoline and alcohol based fuel. Any car made after 1988 can run on a mixture of 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline. A flexible fuel vehicle can run on a mixture of up to 85% ethanol. Modifications are needed for this ratio as alcohol based fuels are corrosive.

Fuel tanks and engines must be modified in flexible fuel vehicles. In the US, there is a special indicator used that analyzes the ratio of the mix and adjusts itself accordingly to make sure that the fuel is burned clean. This is done by adjusting the timing and the fuel injection and happens automatically. Many flexible fuel vehicles are also required to use a special engine oil.

Why use ethanol?

Ethanol offers motorists an environmentally friendly alternative to using fossil based gasoline fuels, since ethanol is much more environmentally friendly and a renewable resource it seems to be an ideal alternative fuel for an environmentally friendly motorist. Studies show that using a mix of 10% ethanol reduces carbon monoxide levels by up to 17% , CO2 emissions by 4.2% and hydrogen emissions by up to 5%. By using a mixture of 85% ethanol greenhouse gas effects are reduced by up to 37%

What countries are using ethanol fuel?

There are three countries currently using ethanol in their vehicles - US, Brazil and Sweden.

* Brazil has been using ethanol mixtures in their fuel since the 1970's and it is required by law that all fuel mixes be at a ratio of 29-25% ethanol.

* Sweden is the only country that has flexible fuel vehicles in Europe, although there are plans to introduce fuel mixes of up to 85% in other European countries.

* US has many cars designed to run on 85% ethanol fuel mixes. These flexible fuel cars make up 4 million of the cars in the US, although less than 1% of these vehicles are currently running on a mixture of 85% ethanol.

The future of ethanol based fuels

At the moment the future of ethanol fuel mixtures seems a little bleak. Until the fuel companies can make the mixtures of gasoline and ethanol fuel mixes more efficient and provide a superior mileage, people will still continue using gasoline and small mixes of ethanol such as a 10% ratio. Once this obstacle has been corrected, ethanol will be more widely used in flexible fuel vehicles.

There is potential for future growth in the ethanol industry. Last year an energy bill was created that is calling for refiners to begin using more renewable fuels. The national ethanol industry currently produces more than 4 billion gallons of ethanol fuel per year with more plants being built all the time. The ethanol industry is definitely set to sky-rocket in coming years.

Finding The Right Mazda Dealer

How do I find a Mazda dealer that is reliable and located in my area? We all have our preferences, and mine is Mazda vehicles. So for my next car, I want to visit the best Mazda dealer I can to get what I need. However, I need to figure out what the best way to locate one is. Turns out, there are several things you can do to find a Mazda dealer in your area without just driving around aimlessly.

The first place to start a search is in the yellow pages. If you go to your local yellow pages and open it up to automobiles you will likely find it is a huge section. Generally the dealers are listed in the section based on alphabetical listings by dealership. Mazda dealers will be in the “M” section. If you live in a larger metro area, there will likely be several Mazda dealers, so write down phone numbers and contact information. You can also go to your local yellow pages online and type in a search f “Mazda dealer.”

Another way to find a Mazda dealer in your area is to check out the Mazda website. Most car manufacturers list affiliate dealers on their site along with contact information. The good thing about this method is that you can probably browse some of the vehicles on line before heading out to the Mazda dealer. When you have an idea what you are looking for, shopping for almost anything becomes easier.

You can also find a Mazda dealer through word of mouth. As people you know who have a Mazda where they got it. Also, ask them about their experience so that you will know if it a dealer that you would enjoy dealing with.

Finding out which Mazda dealers are reputable and easy to work with is also important. As people you know have worked with them for their opinion of the service, experience, and people who work at that Mazda dealer. The other way to check out the reputation of the dealership is to check out consumer websites online. There are consumer sites that will review the actual Mazda cars, Mazda dealers, or sometimes even specific managers. Do your research to make sure that your Mazda dealership experience will be one you enjoy, not one you look back on with spite.

Once you have found the Mazda dealers in your area, and once you have checked out their reputations online and with friends and acquaintances, you are ready to make a decision. Choose your Mazda dealer for what you find important and with what seems like will work best for you. If you do that, you should end up happy with your results.

Most everyone has their own car preferences in terms of manufacturer. If Mazda is your favorite, there are some steps you should take to make sure you find the right Mazda dealer for you. First off, take some time to find out who is in your area with the yellow pages either print or online. From there, ask around about the Mazda dealers you are considering. Do they have a good reputation? Then, simply make a decision that you feel like makes the best sense for you.

Finding Classic Auto Parts

If you finally got the classic car of your dream, finding the car parts for it is will be a hard task. Classic car parts are hard to come by because they are no longer in production, they don’t make the parts for them anymore. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be found.

One place to start looking would be online auction sites. For example, Ebay might be the easiest place to start. Ebay motors have a wide range of classic car parts, so it’s possible you might find what you are looking for.

You might also want to check out local swap meets, they are a good way to find classic car parts you’re looking. You can locate older model accessories and other outdated items.
As a last resort you can always check out car part dealer magazines. The problem with that would be the fact that you probably have to pay more money, but if you do indeed find the part you’re looking for it might be worth it.

But if it you wish to look further you can always check out clubs and organizations. More then likely many clubs and organizations are geared toward cars, or classic cars.

You could check out the internet. It seems today that theirs nothing you can’t find on the internet. You can search and find clubs you can join; it’s a good idea to search on yahoo.
If you are really desperate you can also go to the junkyard. Though it will be like looking for a needle in a hay stack, but it’s worth a shot. You can either visit or phone to see if they have the part.

But the more you take care of your car the less you’ll need to go running around looking for parts, and the more you actually enjoy your car.

Finding Cheap Auto Parts

Running a car can be an expensive business these days, especially with the continually rising cost of petrol/gas. The last thing that most car owners need is the added expense of replacing worn out parts. The majority of people rely on their local auto shop to find the parts, and then fit them. There is a far cheaper way, and that is to source your own parts from an auto salvage yard.

Auto salvage yards, as their name suggests, specialise in salvaging autos, or more specifically auto parts. The way that they work is simple; they take junk cars and strip them down, keeping any parts that are still in working order. These parts are then sold to anyone who wants to buy them at a much lower price than a new part would be. You could find the part that you are looking for, and save yourself a lot of money. Of course, it would be ideal if you could fit the part on your car yourself, but just buying the part from an auto salvage yard can save you a considerable amount even if you have to pay a mechanic to fit it.

The key to buying from an auto salvage yard is to spend a lot of time looking for the part that you need. There may be a lot, or a little, but you should always shop around to find the best part for you. Some auto salvage yards will recondition parts, while others will simply sell them ‘as seen’. If you don’t know much about cars it is a good idea to take a friend with you who does. The last thing you want to do is to buy a part from an auto salvage yard and think that you have found a bargain, but then find that it isn’t the right part for your car or not in working order.

The other way that you can use an auto salvage yard is to actually sell them your scrap car. All cars eventually reach the end of their working life, but you may find that you might get a little money from a salvage yard for your rusting hulk. At the end of the day, that’s better than nothing. Be prepared to negotiate a price and don’t take the first offer that they make you.

Filter In Savings At the Gas Pump

Feeling the pinch at the pump? With record high gasoline prices, many drivers are concerned about their vehicles' fuel economy. The good news is that a simple maintenance procedure can help motorists improve their gas mileage.

"One of the easiest ways to substantially enhance a vehicle's fuel efficiency is to change a dirty air filter," said Susan Groom, leader of product engineering for FRAM. "It's a quick and simple task that practically anyone can perform."

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, replacing a dirty air filter can improve gas mileage by as much as 10 percent. Based on an assumed fuel price of $2.20 per gallon, that equals a cost savings of up to 22 cents per gallon.

FRAM, a leader in automotive filtration for more than 70 years, manufactures a variety of air filters for virtually any vehicle. Motorists can simply select the air filters that fit their vehicles and driving styles and, in less than 15 minutes, they can replace an old or dirty air filter to help improve their vehicles' performance.

A basic air filter, such as the FRAM Extra Life Air Filter, is ideal for the average motorist who commutes to work, frequents local stores and occasionally embarks on long road trips.

Truck and SUV owners who want extreme engine protection should look for the FRAM Tough Guard Air Filter, which has advanced features designed to withstand the tough driving conditions that trucks and SUVs often encounter.

Motorists who desire high performance benefits, such as increased engine airflow for better vehicle horsepower, will likely need the FRAM AirHog Air Filter. This washable and reusable filter is designed to last the life of a vehicle and provides drivers with a cost savings of more than $200 in regularly scheduled filter changes.

"Changing a dirty air filter can benefit any motorist and any vehicle," Groom said. "Not only can a new air filter improve vehicle performance, but it can also lead to significant savings at the gas pump." - NU

Fight High Gas Prices By Improving Your Car's Fuel Efficiency

Not everyone buys their cars based on the car fuel efficiency alone, but it would be safe to presume that it is one of the foremost considerations.

It is much more than a mere technical obsession. The running cost of the car, not to mention the maintenance aspect, depends solely on the car fuel efficiency.

One of the very first questions that car users ask each other is, “What is your car fuel efficiency?” And naturally! Everyone who drives a car is bound to be concerned about car fuel efficiency.

Most people whine and cry about their car fuel efficiency, but seldom do little else! People believe that it is the responsibility of the car manufacturer or the mechanic to keep the car performing at its optimum efficiency. But little do they realize that there is a whole lot that they themselves can do to ensure their car fuel efficiency.

If you drive on a very low gear for instance when a higher gear would work just as well, it is natural that the fuel efficiency will drop. So learning to understand the efficiency levels of driving and following them well will go a long way in ensuring car fuel efficiency.

For one thing, they can drive carefully and in accordance with the manual for efficiency. The car manual exists for a reason. And that is to ensure that the gear changes and the driving speeds work in tandem to give your car the maximum fuel efficiency.

Another way to increase the fuel efficiency is to use the air conditioning in the car only when it is absolutely critical. This way, not only can you make your car go longer on lesser fuel, but you can also ensure that your battery life is enhanced.

So remember to drive with your windows open for the purpose of ventilation rather than close all windows and set the air conditioning on full blast. It is a matter of dollars and sense!

Still another way to ensure that your car is fuel efficient is to ensure that you have filled your tires to the optimum level. If your tires are not filled with enough air, the friction levels increase dramatically.

When this happens, it takes more power for the car to move the same distance than say, when the tires are filled to the optimum level and make the car travel along smoother. Although this is clearly specified in the manual, not many people pay heed to it. Following these simple steps will surely increase your car fuel efficiency.

Fast Go Carts - Pure Fun!

If you are looking for action get ready for some exciting adrenaline-pumping action. Go carts, either racing or off road, is a thrill you won't soon forget!

The heart-pumping excitement of speeding down the track in a fast go cart, just inches from other gocarts on either side, is an experience that is hard to beat. Who will be the first to lift off the gas pedal as you race bumper to bumper entering a sharp corner? Racing off road or on a paved track in one of your sleek go carts, maneuvering around sharp corners and lesser gocart drivers, is just about as fun as it gets for kids or adults alike. Slamming the accelerator to the floor as you pass mere inches alongside other drivers is a thrill that will forever be remembered. Experience the fun and excitement of go carting and you'll be hooked for life.

If you have ever witnessed a Formula One race or watched those Indy Cars traveling by at about 240 MPH as you sit in Victory Circle you know how exciting it can be. The speed. The danger. There's nothing quite like it. Unless you are climbing into one of those off road or racing gocarts yourself. If you thought watching was fun you should try racing yourself. Revving up your engine, slowly pulling it out on the track, the anticipation is almost unbearable. It's hard to wait for the green flag and the moment you can pounce on the gas pedal. But once that flag is waved, and you press the accelerator down in your gocart with all your might , and you feel an immediate burst of power as your go cart lunges forward and your heart beats like it is ready to pop out altogether. What a thrill. What unsurpassed excitement.

If you ever wondered what it would be like racing Formula One there is one way to find out, go carts, only without so much of the danger. Start with safe beginner go carts and work your way up to faster classes. It may also be the best method of working your way into a professional racing career. Many top professional drivers today got their start with the lowly go cart. Once you master driving go carts you can take the next logical step and move into the arena of professional racing. If you're fast you'll get discovered, no doubt. But if you are not so motivated, and just want the thrill without the commitment, remaining in a beginner go cart will always be exciting.

Go carts are an ideal entry point for the amateur driver, whether off road or track racing. Beginner go carts are easy to drive and control. If you've ever driven a car you know how to drive a gocart. And depending at what level you belong to it's a safe hobby. Losing control of your vehicle is not like losing control of your car on the highway. There are seldom any serious injuries with gocarting. At least not with the beginner go carts. No, the thrill is there without so much of the danger. Go carting is a scaled-down version of Formula One racing. The difference is that there are many different levels that you can become involved in. Anywhere from safe beginners to fledgling professionals.

In fact, you don't even have to go to a specific go cart track for racing. Many people find what they need at amusement parks and fun centers. If safe and slow is what you have in mind there are many places for inexperienced drivers to get a thrill. Find tracks geared toward the least experienced drivers to ovals where you can train to become a professional driver. You can choose your own competition level. No need to get in too deep, at least not until you've had a little experience. The main objective with racing or off road carting is to have fun. And once you get into your own go cart, no matter what level you are competing in, the fun just never seems to end.

But be warned, once you try go carting chances are you'll become addicted. It's a foregone conclusion, so beware. If you're interested in purchasing a shiny new gocart that's ready for racing you can do that. But you can also buy inexpensive kits and build your own gocarts these days. Building your own will give you more confidence in yourself as a driver too. You can learn how to do just about everything from installing rack and pinion steering to changing tires. In no time at all you will be the race driver and the mechanic as well. Wouldn't it be fun to install your own brand new custom engine designed for improving the speed of go carts? Or changing your old frame with a new frame that will make your ride even flashier? Perhaps you will want to get into electric go carts instead of gas powered go carts. The way gas prices have been climbing these days electric gokarts are definitely something you want to think about.

But here is the bottom line: it's fun to race at any speed and at any level. And whatever level you choose to race in, these go carts will reach speeds that will be exciting and thrilling. And that's what counts. But don't start getting nervous just yet. Remain calm. If thinking about going fast makes you nervous just remember that there are opportunities for thrills at every level, even at the beginning level. You do not need to go 80 MPH to experience the thrill of the race. If you have ever thought about getting involved with go carts, now is a good time because you are never too old. It's exciting at any age. So get involved with go karts and discover all the excitement you've been missing in your life.

Famous Ford Flops

American automakers sometimes take the brunt of the criticism for producing models that are ugly, useless, or even downright dangerous. Ford has had its share of beasts through the years in addition to several winners including the current Mustang for which demand cannot be met. For the fun of it let’s take a look at some of the Ford models that have been derided down through the years.

Model T – What?! How can the car that introduced mass production make the list? Well, the car was fine, but Mr. Henry Ford’s statement, “…you can have any color you want as long as it is black” has been attributed with the rise of General Motors [who gave its customers a choice in colors] which eventually dethroned Ford as the top automaker in the world. No, the Model T was fine, but Mr. Ford’s marketing strategy was not.

Edsel – In September 1957, Ford launched a new division – Edsel – and introduced to America one of the weirdest looking cars. Sporting a “horse-collar” shaped grille – some equated it with a toilet seat – the Edsel line was hyped by Ford and rejected by consumers wholeheartedly. Expecting to build 200,000 Edsels in its first year of production, only 63,000 were built. Other “radical” aspects of the Edsel included a “floating” speedometer that glowed upon reaching a particular speed and an awkward push button transmission with controls attached to the hub of the steering wheel. Even with a quick makeover completed in time for the next model year, the Edsel limped along only to be pulled one month after the third model year vehicles were released.

Pinto – Hey, even I owned one! With a 2.3L inline four cylinder paired with a 4 speed manny tranny, the Pinto was Ford’s answer during the 1970s to the onslaught of Japanese cars flooding the market. The compact rear wheel drive coupe, three door hatchback, or wagon sold fairly well until disaster hit: the revelation that the Pinto’s gas tank was capable of exploding during a rear impact scared buyers away. Mercifully pulled after the 1980 model year; replaced by the popular Escort.

Mustang II – Ford tarnished the Mustang name during the 1970s with this forgettable and ugly model. Resembling a bloated and stretched Pinto, the Mustang II was weak, poorly made, and a terrible competitor against its arch rival, the Camaro. All was forgiven by the early 1980s with the return of a newly designed Mustang. Today’s Mustang, on the other hand, is a sold-out success story as it took its styling cues from a Mustang of another era: the fastback cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Before you point your finger at Ford, don’t forget to recall some truly forgettable models, foreign and domestic. The Toyota Van was panned for its ugly styling and for having an engine that had to be dropped from the engine bay in order to do a tune up; the Chevy Vega – a Pinto wannabe; AMC’s Pacer – the Jetson’s car; the Suzuki Samurai and Isuzu Rodeo – flip over specialists; the Yugo – a thinly redone 1960s era Fiat; and countless other cars not worth the mention. You hope that automakers learn from their mistakes, but don’t count on it. Maybe in another generation we will see a truly forgettable Ford show up, but for now there isn’t one in the line up...hooray for that!

Extra, Extra! Car Covers Save Car!

Your automobile is one of the most important investments you will make aside from your house. So it only follows that you would watch over this prized possession as a mother would her child. While singing it lullabyes, you will want to keep it from getting scratched or stained. This is where a good car cover comes in. Without this simple but highly effective protection, you are sure to have your baby sporting dents and scratches in no time. If you’re looking for a good guide to choosing a car cover for your vehicle, you have come to the right place.

Imagine the dread when you find the first dent or scratch on your new vehicle. Unfortunately, it’s a fact of life. Unless you are considering covering your vehicle in plated steel, chances are you will be seeing more of these dents and scratches in your life. However, a good car cover can, at the very least, keep your car away from many of the needless scratches it could endure.

Birds, trees, and dust all pose a scratch hazard to your car. They may seem harmless, but looks can be deceiving.

Birds
Don’t you just hate it when those birds just can’t seem to let loose their bombs unless there are right over something important? Jump the gun! Get protection for your car!
Bird droppings are acidic and could cause discoloration or even corrosion to your paint finish. Most outdoor car cover fabrics are designed to keep those droppings from harming your car.

Trees
We all love them for the shade. But trees have a deadly sense of retribution. Falling branches, nuts, fruits, and sap can all put scratches and stains on you car. And don’t forget our friendly neighborhood birds (where else would they be found?). If you’re really unlucky, a large branch might come crashing your way. So always be careful which tree you choose to park under.

Dust
You might think that your car paint can weather dust storms. Unfortunately that armor of paint you talk about is only .006 inches thick. Dust that settles on your cars surface could cause tiny scratches if it gets rubbed in. Indoor car cover fabrics and Outdoor car cover fabrics are designed to keep that dust away from your vehicle.

Thieves!
That thin lining of cloth might not look like it can repel large hazards to your car. But, look again! It could even save your car from thieving fiends! Thieves usually bypass covered vehicles because they take more time to get into. Since their goal is to get the car out of there in the least amount of time, they usually look for those that are easier to get in to. Add a lock and cable to your car cover, and you will keep those pesky thieves scrambling for a different quarry.

Rain
Rain is usually harmless. But a strong downpour could assist dust and other debris in scratching the surface of your car. A good outdoor car-cover gives your car a much needed raincoat.

Sunshine
Harsh UV rays and the intense heat of the Sun can bleach the color right out of your car. A car cover makes sure these harmful elements are deflected. It also keeps the interior of your car cooler.

Winter
Your car’s finish will have no problem with the cold. It will, though, have a problem with the moisture and the salt. Both elements can wreck havoc on your paint job. Keep your car cover on to prevent this.

Things to Consider in Choosing the Right Car Cover Consider the following when choosing a car cover:

1. The places where you park and how frequent you use your car

2. Weather in the places you often drive to

3. What color will work best in the weather you drive. For sunny areas a light color helps keep the vehicle cooler. In area with snow, a high contrast vehicle makes for better visibility.

4. Parking areas. Make sure you know the hazards of your parking area. And be prepared to choose a car cover that addresses this.

5. The number of people and the crime rate at your parking lot. This will decide whether you will go for a car cover lock to discourage any thieves.

Choosing car covers might sound trivial to some. But for the well-informed person (that’s you), an investment in a good car cover could decide the lifespan of you precious vehicle.

Explaining The World Of Gas Scooters

Nothing can compare the thrill of riding a newly bought gas scooter. The feeling is one of exhilaration and thrill. The driver can sense the freedom that comes from riding on an open road. This article will explain the two basic aspects of gas powered scooters – what it is and how it works.

What it is?

Gas powered scooters are scooter that use gas as fuel for their engines. Majority of gas-powered scooters have automatic gear transmission system. These are also called as variable transmission machines. The manual gear transmission scooters are also available which have the gearshift lever and the corresponding clutch incorporated into the handlebar itself.

Gas powered scooter engines have piston displacement ranging from 49cc to 250cc. These displacements are smaller than that of other motorcycles. The engines are available in two types – two stroke cycles and four stroke cycles. The two stroke engines are much faster, having quicker acceleration and are of simple build with easy maintenance. The four stroke versions have complicated build, slower acceleration but have good fuel efficiency. The chief reason for manufacturers to opt for manufacture of four stroke gas powered scooters is to meet the strict emission norms that are getting every stricter.

How does it work?

Gas powered scooters come with manual kick-start or automatic electric start. Many scooters come with both electric start facility and manual kick-start. Most of them have automatic transmissions. To ride them one just has to start the scooter and twist the acceleration grip and lo! You are on your way. To slow down simply release the throttle grip. In many, two-stroke gas powered scooters; you do not have to premix lubricating oil with gas. They have a separate oil container and automatic lubricating system, which takes away the hassle of premixing the fuel. Lubrication is done automatically in the carburetor itself or in gas tank.

Gas powered scooters are popular all over the world as urban and rural means of road transportation. They are easy to use, easy to maintain and have lesser legal restrictions in most countries. They permit easy embarking and disembarking for the riders and hence are a favorite among women riders.
